Safety Third…a second time

So Michael and I came up with some new games for the Winter Olympics.  What if the Ski Cross guys were given foam whiffle bats as they raced down the course.  Or how about the Downhill Ski Jump Joust…you can imagine that one.  It sounds crazy until you consider that every sport ups the ante on the intensity.  When downhill skiing wasn’t cutting it we add moguls, when moguls aren’t exciting we add aerial jumps.  We add flips, twists, hurdles, height, speed and why not?

It is hard wired into people to live some kind of adventure.  It might not be some crazy trip down a mountain, but it is a choice to do something extraordinary, something that may never have been attempted before.  We want to be part of something that mattered, that was noticed, that God looked down upon and cheered.

Is safety 1st in your life?  Is the main concern not getting bitten, holding back because of what some might say?  Safety 1st is comfort, its hiding for years in an organization doing nothing that might rock the boat.  Safety 3rd might be scary, it might involve power tools, you might accidentally cut off the branch holding you up.  Then again you might land the jump and cross the finish line in record time.  So decide what you are going to be about, pursue it and remember Safety 3rd.
